Grandmaster Chuck Norris personally presented Joe with the Professional Martial Artists Designation Award in Las Vegas in 1995 at the UFAF National Convention. Mr. Norris also wrote a personal recommendation for Joe in 1992 after watching Joe fight a 6’2, 240 lb competitor. Joe was only 5’9, 140 lbs in the finals at the ITC Tournament he said to his brother ” I can’t believe how determined this guy is! He has so much heart and just keeps coming! One tough guy, lol!”
